About me
I’m Katie Simpson, a BABCP and BACP Accredited CBT Therapist and counsellor with over 15 years of experience as a therapist across the NHS, a University, Voluntary sector, and private practice.
I have two areas of specialist focus. The first is supporting people on weight loss medications — Mounjaro, Wegovy, and Ozempic — with the psychological complexity that often accompanies that journey. Prescribing clinics address the physical side, but rarely the identity shifts, changed relationship with food, body image disruption, anxiety about the future, or grief that many people experience. This is an underserved area, and one I’m genuinely passionate about.
The second is working with people experiencing anxiety, burnout, low mood, and significant life transitions — the moments when what used to work stops working, and practical, evidence-based support makes a real difference.
I trained at the University of Derby and worked in the NHS before moving into private practice. My approach is warm, direct, and grounded in CBT — an active, evidence-based therapy focused on building real tools, not just insight.
I’m not a passive therapist: I work with you collaboratively, and I’ll gently challenge you when that’s what’s needed.
Sessions are available in person at The Well Health Centre in King’s Heath, Birmingham, as walk-and-talk therapy in Kings Heath Park, or online anywhere in the UK.
I accept Aviva and AXA Health insurance.
A free 15-minute consultation is available — no referral needed, no waiting list. You can book through my website.
