Training, qualifications & experience
I am a professionally qualified counsellor and a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP). My training is integrative and person-centred, and my work is also informed by relational and trauma-informed approaches. I undertake ongoing professional development and regular clinical supervision in line with BACP requirements. My experience includes counselling and emotional support work with adults, young people, students, parents and carers. I have worked in university counselling and specialist mental health mentoring, as well as in services supporting children, young people and families affected by disability and visual impairment. I have particular experience supporting people living with long-term or serious health conditions, disability, caring responsibilities, bereavement, anticipatory grief and significant life changes. I also welcome LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent clients, including people exploring identity, belonging, ADHD or other aspects of neurodivergence. Across these roles, I have supported people experiencing anxiety, stress, low mood, relationship and family pressures, loss, uncertainty and major transitions. My approach is collaborative and flexible, allowing the work to be shaped around each person’s individual needs, experiences and goals.

About me
I’m Jeanette Walker-Guy, a Registered MBACP counsellor and the founder of Calm Mind Space.
My approach is integrative, person-centred, relational and trauma-informed. I work collaboratively with you and adapt our sessions to your individual needs, rather than expecting you to fit into one particular way of working.
My professional experience includes counselling and emotional support work with adults, young people, students, parents and carers. I have particular experience supporting people affected by disability, visual impairment, serious or long-term illness, caring responsibilities, anticipatory grief and bereavement.
I welcome LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent clients, as well as people exploring identity, belonging or changes in how they understand themselves. You do not need to arrive with everything clearly worked out. We can take time to understand what has brought you to counselling and what you would like to be different.
Online sessions are offered through Microsoft Teams, with telephone counselling also available. In-person sessions may be possible at suitable locations across the North East, depending on room availability and by prior arrangement.
Appointments are generally available Monday to Thursday in the early morning and evening, with Friday morning availability. Please get in touch to discuss current appointment times.
Online and telephone counselling sessions are £50. In-person sessions are usually £60 where an additional room hire cost applies.
I offer a free initial conversation of up to 20 minutes so that you can ask questions and consider whether working together feels right for you.
