How I can help

What brings people is often exhaustion after years of masking, difficulty at work, sensory sensitivities that shape daily life, relationships that keep going wrong for reasons that are hard to name, or a sense that the usual advice has never fitted. We work at your pace, in whatever format suits you: in my ground-floor room in Bishopthorpe, in your own home, by video, by telephone, or walking side by side in Rowntree Park if eye contact is a cost you would rather not pay.

About me

I am a person-centred pluralistic counsellor in private practice in York. I am a member of the BACP and work within its Ethical Framework. Alongside my own practice I have been on the counselling team at Kyra Women’s Project, an independent York charity where I have volunteered since 2016.

Person-centred means you set the direction, pace and focus of your sessions. Pluralistic means I draw on more than one approach and offer what might help you, as a suggestion for you to consider, not as a prescription. I have a science background, so I am interested in what the evidence actually shows about effective outcomes and I am equally interested in where the evidence assumes a neurotypical brain and therefore does not describe you.
