Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a Level 5 Diploma of Higher Education (DipHE) in Therapeutic Counselling (Person-Centred), awarded through University Centre Peterborough. I’m also currently completing my BA (Hons) in Counselling and Psychotherapy, further developing my knowledge and understanding of therapeutic practice. Alongside my qualifications, I’ve undertaken additional training in trauma-informed counselling, online and telephone counselling, and counselling children and young people. I also have a particular interest in ADHD, addiction and recovery, and continue to build my knowledge in these areas through professional development. My practical counselling experience includes working with young adults at YMCA Norwich and providing online counselling through Choose Therapy. I’ve supported people experiencing anxiety, grief, childhood trauma, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem and a range of other emotional challenges. I’ve also gained experience working within addiction and recovery services, including Change Grow Live (CGL), where I supported individuals affected by drug and alcohol use and helped facilitate recovery-focused group activities. These experiences have shaped the way I work and reinforced my belief that everyone’s circumstances are different. I aim to offer counselling that recognises your individual experiences, needs and preferences rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach. I’m an Accredited Registrant of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS). I undertake regular clinical supervision and ongoing professional development to ensure my practice remains safe, ethical and informed.

About me

Hi, I’m Dan, a qualified person-centred counsellor offering face-to-face counselling in Fakenham, Norfolk, and online across the UK.

I know that reaching out for counselling isn’t always easy, especially when you’re not quite sure where to start or how to put what you’re feeling into words.

I have a particular interest in working with adults experiencing ADHD, childhood trauma and addiction, although my work isn’t limited to these areas. I also support people struggling with anxiety, low self-esteem, relationships, grief and feeling overwhelmed by everyday life.

My experience includes working with young adults at YMCA Norwich, providing online counselling through Choose Therapy and supporting people within addiction and recovery services. These experiences have helped shape the way I work and reinforced how important it is to see each person as an individual, rather than just focusing on the difficulties they’re experiencing.

I’m naturally quite down-to-earth in the way I work. I don’t believe counselling needs to feel overly formal or clinical. For me, it’s about building a genuine relationship where you feel comfortable enough to be yourself, without worrying about being judged or having to say the right thing.

I believe you’re the expert in your own life. My role isn’t to give you advice or tell you what you should do, but to offer a space where we can explore things together, at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

Above all, I want you to feel heard, understood and accepted for who you are.

If you’re considering counselling, you’re very welcome to get in touch for an initial chat to see whether working together feels right.
