How I can help
I can help young people, adults and families make sense of what they are finding difficult and feel more supported in the process. My background in schools and family support means I understand the pressures children, parents and families can face, including learning needs, school life, emotional wellbeing and relationships at home. I offer a warm, down-to-earth and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly, feel heard and begin to find a way forward.

About me
I am Chisom Deborah, and I am a Registered Member of the BACP, qualified Counsellor/Psychotherapist working with young people, adults and families. Professionally I have worked in various schools in various capacities. Ranging from Special Educational Needs schools to Grammar schools and everything in between. I started my career as a Teaching Assistant before beginning to work specifically with families as a Family Support Worker to more recently, as a School Counsellor. I have worked in single sex schools; both boys and girls as well as mixed schools. For me, building relationships with people is important and imperative to the work I do as a counsellor. Being approachable and down-to-earth allows me to do exactly that. I am passionate about mental health in society today. By creating non-judgmental therapeutic relationships, I hope to challenge any stigma there may be around asking for help. If you had pain in your arm you’d see your GP, troublesome gums you’d see a dentist, poor eyesight you’d see an optician.. you see where I’m going with this… Going to see a counsellor should be just as important.
Personally, another passion of mine is travel. A good friend was the mastermind behind name ‘The Travelling Counsellor,’ and I think it encompasses my two passions perfectly.
