How I can help
Psychodynamic therapy for trauma, relationships and recurring patterns that can be difficult to change. You may recognise familiar ways of relating to other people, struggling with motivation or finding your place in life, even when you understand some of the reasons behind them. Therapy can offer an opportunity to explore what lies beneath these patterns, including how earlier relationships and experiences continue to shape the way you experience yourself and others today. I work particularly with trauma and difficulties in relationships, alongside anxiety, depression, shame, sexuality and identity. My work is also psychosexually informed, and I have experience working with questions around faith, spirituality and religious experience. I offer longer-term psychodynamic therapy in Cardiff and Abertillery, as well as online.

About me
I’m a BACP-accredited psychodynamic therapist working in Cardiff, Abertillery and online. My approach is exploratory and relational, with less emphasis on finding quick solutions and more interest in understanding the experiences and relationships that have shaped who you are.
I listen carefully not only to what has happened in your life, but to the themes and patterns that emerge in how you experience yourself and relate to other people. Sometimes we can understand something intellectually while finding that the same difficulties continue to repeat. Longer-term therapy gives us time to become curious about these patterns and to understand them at greater depth.
The relationship we develop is an important part of this work. Rather than approaching therapy with a predetermined idea of what needs to change, I see it as something we work out together, making room for parts of your experience that may have been difficult to understand, express or share with somebody else.
If you are looking for lower-cost, open-ended therapy in Cardiff, I also manage Cynefin Therapy. You can find out more at www.cynefintherapy.co.uk.
