About me
What are you seeking from therapy/from a therapist? Someone to give you answers, someone to listen, or perhaps a space where you can be unashamedly yourself and speak freely? I can support you in your journey even if you don’t yet know how that looks.
If you’d like to work with a therapist who has integrity and appropriate boundaries, someone who can provide clarity and who does exactly what she says she will, then I can help. I’m not just someone who has learnt the theory of therapy, I have lived it, made the changes, and come out the other side. I’m here to help you do the same. You can expect that I will prioritise compassion, kindness and sensitivity as much as reliability, theory, ethics and respect. These are key in my private practice. I offer a genuine commitment to growing a relationship where you can share all your concerns, hopes and fears. When trust grows, through working collaboratively you can make changes and achieve the goals you desire.
Whilst I may be relatively new to the profession, my personal journey of self-discovery has been ongoing for the last 22 years, giving me a level of self-awareness that works directly to your benefit. This deep commitment to my own reflective practice means that I can sit with your heaviest, most complex emotions without becoming overwhelmed or reactive. They say a therapist can only go as far with a client as they have gone with themselves. Because I have done that deep, internal work, I am uniquely equipped to meet you in your depth of feeling whilst anchoring our sessions with safety, stability, and clarity.
As a counselling tutor I know that I am accomplished at creating a space where you will feel able to share whatever you choose, even in an online environment. Teaching enables theory and good practice to be ever-present in my mind. My knowledge is fresh and sharp and I am held to the highest standard every day by my students and my peers, ensuring my practice stays current and that every tool I bring into our sessions is intentional, up-to-date, and research based.
I call myself trauma-informed as since qualifying I have increased my knowledge by studying trauma. This is ongoing for me and I have a certificate as a trauma-informed coach. In practical terms this means that I can work with trauma in a way that puts people at ease and will not re-traumatise them. It is a very delicate and client-led way of working. As an integrative therapist, I am versed in several counselling modalities as opposed to just one, meaning that I have a variety of skills and approaches I can adopt to tailor my work very specifically to each individual. For you this means there’s real versatility with how we can work and I can adapt to best meet your needs. My clients like knowing how unique they are and how non-formulaic our work is. We can be creative or solution focused, I could educate you in theory that may resonate. We can sit and talk, or we can do breath-work, mindfulness or visualisation. It all depends on and is adapted specifically to you. No script, no clichéd responses. As a therapeutic counsellor I have trained to work at depth and to look at underlying, long term issues.
I have seen and experienced that when a person learns to accept themselves and has faced their fears, they can flourish. No matter what has gone before. This is why, if you would like, I work holistically. It’s often not just what we think, but how we feel that is causing our concerns. I don’t believe that any problem is too small for counselling. If it matters to you – it matters.
