How I can help

As a registered Art Psychotherapist (HCPC, BAAT), I have over 17 years experience working with adults and young people in Australia and the United Kingdom. I have delivered Art Psychotherapy for groups and individuals seeking greater insight into the psychological and emotional issues that stand in the way of a meaningful and engaging experience of life. I have a long history working in Adult Community Mental Health and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) programs in schools. My therapeutic approach is informed by both psychodynamic and person centred theories; an approach which is tailored to the specific needs and goals of the individual.

About me

The art produced in art therapy is informed by conscious intention and is also comprised of unconscious knowledge and hidden feelings. As the art work is examined; or dissected, the creator of the art work becomes aware of underlying issues which are governing their emotions and thoughts. This is achieved by using visual art as a tool to uncover that which is otherwise glimpsed only in dreams.
Art Psychotherapy can be less confronting and yet deeper reaching than purely verbal modalities of therapy. I work in partnership with you in the process of dissecting the symbolic layers of your art work, bringing to light personal meanings and creating new pathways through problems.
