About me

János is a psychotherapist working with individuals and groups. Before training as a group analyst, he worked as a nurse and paramedic — a background that shapes how he works: practically minded, attentive to what people actually need, and comfortable with complexity.

He trained at the Institute of Group Analysis in London, where he is now a tutor on the clinical training programme. He is also a visiting lecturer on the Tavistock-Portman Clinic’s forensic training, and a UKCP registered supervisor.

For seven years, János was part of the Dangerous and Severe Personality Disorder Programme, helping to build a medium secure forensic therapeutic community. He has since worked across NHS outpatient services and third sector organisations, and has particular experience with people living with severe and enduring mental health difficulties. His clinical thinking centres on understanding personality challenges through the lens of trauma.

Alongside individual and group analytic psychotherapy, János offers staff support groups and supervision. He works with frontline public sector workers — especially healthcare staff — whether teams are under pressure or individuals are showing signs of burnout. He knows that world from the inside.

He sees people dealing with anxiety, low mood, relationship difficulties, past trauma, or a sense that something isn’t working and they’re not sure why. He has a particular interest in personality difficulties that are rooted in early experiences — the kind of patterns that tend to show up across relationships, work, and sense of self, often long before someone recognises them as something that can be worked with. He also works with people affected by eating disorders. In group work, other members become part of the process — many people find it unexpectedly valuable to be heard by others in a similar position, not just by a therapist.
