How I can help
I’m a UKCP-registered Person-Centred Psychotherapist with experience across psychiatric residential settings, NHS services, low-cost counselling centres, and private practice.
I work with individuals and with people in relationships – not just romantic couples, but friends, family members, and any pairing where something needs to shift, be understood, or said out loud. My approach to relationship psychotherapy is deliberately broad because I don’t think romantic partnerships deserve more space than other bonds that shape us.
My work is grounded in the therapeutic relationship itself – I believe that being genuinely heard and met by another person is where change begins. I hold complexity, difference, and conflict with care.
I have a particular interest in working with people who are childfree – whether by choice, circumstance, or still figuring that out. It’s an area that rarely gets proper space in therapy. I think it should.

About me
I’m Nilima, a therapist who believes therapy works best when it’s human, honest, and allowed to be a little curious. I offer a warm, non-judgemental space where you can bring the complicated, contradictory, and not-quite-finished parts of yourself.
Before training as a psychotherapist, I worked as a journalist and editor in energy and environmental media, and later in private equity – funding my therapy training while unpicking corporate nonsense with military precision. That path shaped how I listen, how I think about stories and power, and how comfortable I am with complexity, pressure, and difference.
Outside the therapy room, I enjoy films, reading, and running, and I co-host Sci-Fi Therapy – a podcast that puts science fiction on the couch, exploring identity, trauma, guilt, and what it means to be human through the lens of shows like Battlestar Galactica. I’m interested in how people make meaning, how relationships evolve, and how change happens over time – themes that turn up as much in good sci-fi as they do in therapy.
I’m British Bangladeshi, born in Bedford, raised in Birmingham on a diet of Star Trek and sarcasm.
