How I can help

I am a qualified psychotherapist, who specialises in addictions, psychosexual and relationships and trauma – using Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR) technique. I also work general clinical issues: with anxiety, low mood, work related stress. I support clients in understanding the links between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviours, and in developing practical strategies to manage distress and create lasting change. A significant part of my work focuses on sex addiction, pornography use, alcohol and drug dependency, as well as the impact these can have on relationships, including infidelity, loss of trust, and sexual dysfunctions.

About me

My approach to psychotherapy is influenced by my own eventful and often challenging life experiences; which gives me deeper empathy and insight into people’ problems, past and present, and a greater understanding of why particular behaviours are adopted and used as coping mechanisms.

I work with the notion that we are all born with an attachment to a relationship and that we all need relationships for our survival. Therefore the client-therapist relationship is the most fundamental part of the therapy that produces positive changes.

I include goals and targets within my therapeutic model and as a way of measuring the client’s progress and outcomes, will include a direct and challenging approach. I believe that this style of engagement continues to build trust in the relationship and drives the development and improvement of the client’s health and well-being. This style of practice also provides a structure that helps to increase confidence and motivation to make life-changing decisions.
