There are 6 therapists and counsellors on The Therapist Finder who work with clients in Islington. Every profile is checked against a professional register before it goes live. The list is below, and the filters let you narrow it down by the difficulty you want help with or the kind of therapy you are looking for.
All of them offer online sessions, and four also see clients in person.
Among those who see clients in Islington, fees run from £60 to £110 a session, and the middle of the range is about £80. Each profile shows that therapist's own fee. Our guide to therapy fees explains how this compares with the rest of London.
All six list trauma, five list anxiety, five bereavement and four depression. Choose a difficulty in the filter below to see only those who work with it. We also have pages on grief counselling in Islington and trauma therapy in Islington. However different their methods, what tends to matter most is how you feel with the person, so it is worth having a first conversation with one or two before deciding.
Angel is on the Northern line, and Highbury and Islington has the Victoria line, the Overground and trains to Moorgate, which also stop at Essex Road. Buses run the length of Upper Street, Essex Road and Liverpool Road. If you need step-free access, ask the therapist before your first session.
If you live in Islington or are registered with a GP there, you can refer yourself to Camden and Islington NHS Talking Therapies, the free service run by North London NHS Foundation Trust, online at camdenandislingtontalkingtherapies.nhs.uk or by calling the Islington team on 020 3317 7252. They aim to be in touch within two weeks of your referral. It offers short, structured therapy for common problems such as anxiety and depression. If you would like longer-term therapy, or to choose your own therapist, private therapy is the other route.
If you need urgent help, call NHS 111 and choose the mental health option, or call 999 in an emergency.
