There are many reasons that my clients come to me for individual or relationship therapy. It can provide a confidential, non-judgmental setting in which to self reflect and create change, whether you’re in the midst of a crisis, or if things are going well but you want to be proactive and ensure they remain positive. Relationally we can become stuck, consumed by conflict, and what was once a thriving relationship can come to a grinding halt. Our sexual selves, whether in a relationship or not, can be presented with an unexpected obstacle; we may become overwhelmed by new desires or find old desires are no longer accessible. Specialist relationship and sex therapy can support those experiencing intimacy and sexual difficulties both physical and emotional in nature.

My work is grounded in psychoanalytic thinking and focuses on helping you develop a deeper understanding of yourself, opening up the possibility of new ways of being. Alongside my clinical practice, I teach and supervise other practitioners, which helps ensure that my work remains thoughtful, up to date, and ethically grounded.

I am a fully qualified psychodynamic psychotherapist, holding a master’s degree from The University of London. I am a registered member of the BACP and follow their ethical framework and professional standards. My training has also included studies in philosophy, neuroscience, psychology, and modules in clinical psychology at King’s College London, which help inform my approach to understanding how past experiences shape our present. I currently practice at The Couch – Psychological Therapies in Peckham, Hackney Therapy Centre, Consulting rooms in central London and am the Co-Founder of Men Connect – talking groups for men. Before opening my private practice, I trained in Clinical Psychology at King’s College London with Guy’s Hospital. I also spent over a decade working internationally in senior leadership roles. This gives me a lived understanding of the pressures faced by individuals, the visibility, responsibility, performance demands, and internal standards that often go unseen.

Mark Mahoney

I’m a BACP-registered integrative counsellor specialising in men’s mental health. I work with men who are overthinking, emotionally exhausted, angry, or stuck in patterns they can’t break. Many of my clients appear to be coping on the outside but are privately struggling with anxiety, irritability, poor sleep, or a persistent sense that something isn’t right. My approach is integrative, drawing mainly on person-centred and psychodynamic therapies, tailored to what you need. Sessions are practical and collaborative. Together we explore where difficulties come from and develop strategies you can use between sessions and beyond. I offer 50-minute sessions in Bromley, Forest Hill, Peckham, and online, with a free 15–20 minute introductory call.

As a Counsellor I have worked with a variety of issues, especially those related to bereavement and loss. The experience of grief for many people can be hard to share with loved ones and be quite isolating. So often the focus of our work here, is to create an empathic space where your feelings can be shared, heard and validated. I have also completed additional training around pregnancy loss. As for many, pregnancy loss can be a upsetting and traumatic event, however often the experiance of this grief is more likely to be hidden, and isolating My professional background is working in social care and as a social worker, such, I have always had a passion for supporting people – especially those experiencing complex physical healthcare needs, and their carers and families, Also working in these environments has also given me a good understanding of the pressures that fast-paced highly-stressed workplaces can place on an individual’s wellbeing leading to stress and burnout.

You may be feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, and alone, unsure where to turn. You might find that those around you don’t quite get it. I’m here to listen, without judgement. You don’t need to mask, justify yourself, or have the right words. I’ll sit with you and help you feel less alone with whatever you’re carrying. I’m not here to fix you, because you’re not broken. We will figure out together what brought you to this point, help you make sense of your feelings and experiences, and work out what you need to make changes in your life, if that is what you want to do. I use an integrative approach, which means I draw on different theories and interventions in a way that’s tailored to your needs.
